Flagler Beach, FL - A body found floating in the water leads to a death investigation in Flagler County.

According to the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, the investigation began after deputies were called to Varn Park yesterday evening (June 15th) in reference to someone attempting CPR on an unconscious male.

Multiple witness accounts state that people heard a young boy yelling that someone was in the water. After spotting the body, a bystander swam into the surf and pulled the unconscious male to the shore.

The unidentified male, who was described as a young black adult male, possibly in his 20's, was only wearing boxers and a pair of socks when he was pulled from the surf. Deputies also noted that it seemed like he had been in the water a while before he was brought to shore.

No witness at the scene could identify the victim or recall seeing him at the park earlier that day. Additionally, no witnesses saw him enter the water.

EMT's eventually arrived on scene and took over life-saving measures. The victim was then taken to AdventHealth Palm Coast, where they were pronounced dead. Shortly thereafter, hospital staff helped with identifying the victim and notifying their family.

Despite next-of-kin notification, FCSO has not released the victim's full identity since the investigation is still active.

An autopsy was scheduled to take place this afternoon (June 16th).
