The Florida Department of Health in Volusia County is waiving fees for well tests temporarily in order to better ensure water quality in the community following the flooding from Hurricane Milton. In major flooding events a variety of contaminants can enter water supplies, including waste, waterborne pathogens, and debris.
Those who wish to have samples from their wells tested will be able to do so at one of the county's three Department of Health locations. The Volusia DOH provides a sampling kit with instructions, which residents can then take home to collect their sample. After collection, the kit should be returned with the resident's name, address, phone number, and email address. Results are expected to be received within 48 hours.
The three Department of Health locations in Volusia County are as follows:
Those conducting testing for new construction clearances are exempt from this action, and will still have to pay the fee as normal. More information is available from the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County by calling (386) 624-0483 or by emailing vchdwellirr@flhealth.gov.
