Daytona Beach, FL - A new survey says that the Sunshine State is the nation's number one state to retire in.
The financial website Wallethub found that 26% of all nonretired adults have no retirement savings or pension. So, to help them find a safe, enjoyable and wallet-friendly place to call home, they compared all 50 states across 47 metrics to find who is the best with retirement.
According to Wallethub, retiring usually coincides with the age where one might receive Social Security or pension benefits. But, not everyone can retire when they want to.
In addition to when to retire, a good question to ask is where. To determine where those places are, their analysts examined affordability, health-related factors and overall quality of life.
Their findings found that Florida ranked number two in affordability, 5th in quality of life and 26th in health care. Right under Florida came Colorado, who ranked 17th in affordability, 11th in quality of life and 4th in health care.
Wallethub also found that Florida has the second-highest rate of people 65 or older in the nation, right under Maine.
The bottom three states, according to Wallethub, were Rhode Island, New Mexico and Kentucky.
