Four Illegal Casinos Raided in Volusia County

Posted

Four casinos accused of operating illegally were raided by the Volusia Sheriff's Office, the agency announced last week. The locations were located in DeLand and Orange City, and the VSO managed to secure over 100 machines and loads of cash in their operation.

The casinos which were shut down by the VSO were as follows, according to their report.

  • Comptrek (2525 N Woodland Blvd, DeLand)
  • Cyber Monkey (350 Spring Garden Ave)
  • Preview Games (2411 Enterprise Rd, Orange City)
  • Smash Monkey (address unknown)

Three out of the four locations have been shut down previously for alleged illegal activities. Two employees of Preview Games were arrested in July for running illegal gambling.

The VSO also highlighted Smash Monkey as a location in which a suspected fraudster accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from seniors was located and arrested in a recent investigation. $114,000 in total was seized from the four locations on Thursday.

“Illegal gambling is a serious issue, and we are grateful to partner with the Volusia Sheriff’s Office and to support Sheriff Chitwood and his team in shutting these locations down,” said Florida Gaming Control Commission Executive Director Lou Trombetta. “Legal gaming is strictly regulated in Florida to provide player protections, combat illegal activity, generate state revenue, and foster game integrity. We will continue to address illicit gambling to protect citizens and communities, and we appreciate continued reports about any suspicion of illegal gambling operations and facilities.”
