Daytona Beach, FL - Soon the green carpet will roll out for what the Daytona Tortugas are calling "Opening Day 2.0"—the day full capacity seating returns to Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

The Tortugas, along with Minor League Baseball (MiLB) clubs, announced the return of full capacity home games after receiving additional guidance from Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Florida Department of Health-Volusia (DOH).

"It's great having baseball back here at Jackie Robinson Ballpark," said Tortugas General Manager Jim Jaworski. "And now we're excited to welcome even more fans!"

The first game to open up for full capacity seating will be the Tortugas' home game against the Clearwater Threshers, the Low-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, on June 1. It will also be Breast Cancer Awareness night, where the team and coaches will don pink uniforms in honor of the night, and Silver Sluggers night

In addition to opening up full capacity, the Tortugas announced that vaccinated fans are no longer required to wear a face covering or a mask while at the ballpark. Still, the use of a mask is suggested for those who are not vaccinated.

According to an article from TheAthletic.com, 11 Major League teams plan to follow suit by opening up to full capacity at some point in June, the first being the Detroit Tigers, who are slated to open up to full capacity the same day as the Tortugas. Two other teams, the Boston Red Sox and the Kansas City Royals, plan to open full capacity seating by the end of May.

At the moment, only four MLB teams—Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Texas Rangers—offer full capacity seating at their venues. The Rangers were the first to offer full capacity seating on their Opening Day. The remaining teams in the MLB have yet to mention when they plan to open up their parks to full capacity.

Daytona Tortugas season tickets, multi-game plans, group packages, and more are still available and can be purchased online through the team's website, or by calling the Tortugas’ Ticket Office at (386) 257-3172.
