Gas Prices For Labor Day Lowest In 16 Years

Posted

Daytona Beach, FL - Labor Day travelers will see the lowest gas prices in 16 years. That's according to AAA spokesperson Mark Jenkins. He says that prices have increased about seven cents per gallon this week mainly due to concerns about the impact of Hurricane Laura.  "We saw gasoline futures increase, wholesale prices increase as a result. We forecasted that gas prices could increase this week.  It looks like right now, the state average is up about six cents, maybe even seven cents." Even with the increase, gas prices are about 30 cents less per gallon than last year.

Traveling during the COVID-19 pandemic can affect many elements of your trip. Jenkins says that AAA has a website where you can check if there are any COVID-19 related restrictions. "What that will do is tell you whether there are any COVID-related travel restrictions, checkpoints, and closures along your route." To get directly to the map, click here.
