Holly Hill Mayor Elated For Phase Two

Holly Hill, FL - When Governor Ron DeSantis made the announcement that Phase 2 of his reopening Florida plan begins on June 5, Holly Hill Maro Chris Via said he was 'elated.' Bars, bowling alleys, veterans organizations, and movie theaters will reopen at 50% capacity. Retail businesses and gyms can operate at full capacity.

Via wrote a letter to the Governor on May 27, citing a phone call he had with a Marine veteran suffering from PTSD.  He said the veterans have always served our country.  "Now we're allowing them to get back with their fellow soldiers to their veterans' organizations."

There are a number of bars in Holly Hill and Via said many of them really give back to the community.  "Purchasing Christmas gifts for kids in need in our community. We have another bar that does a yearly fundraiser for our law enforcement officers, so, there's a lot of good that's done."

Via said the city is trying to help businesses where they can. Restaurants are allowed to have additional seating outside and the bars will be allowed to do the same thing if needed.  He said we're excited that the Governor was receptive to that (his letter) and 'actually followed liberty, fairness, and freedom.'
