Illinois Cat Missing In Florida Since December Found at HHS

Daytona Beach, FL - A gray and white cat named Mia is going home to her family in Illinois after going missing in Ormond Beach while her family was here visiting in December.

The family was staying at the Makai Beach Lodge when Mia escaped through the sliding glass door on December 26. Michele Weise, of Rescued Animals, has been looking for Mia since that time.

On Wednesday, Chris Carducci, another Volusia county animal lover was going through shelter intakes on Wednesday and spotted the cat. She went to Halifax Humane Society, checked the cat’s markings and they matched. Mia will be fostered until arrangements can be made to get her home.

Before Mia can go anywhere, there's a charge of $84 to get her out of HHS. Money is also needed to get Mia home. If she goes by air, she'll need to get a rabies shot and a health certificate.  If you'd like to help Mia get home, you can make a donation on a gofundme account that's been set up.
