DeLand, FL -The general election takes place just five weeks from tomorrow on November 3 and that means there are deadlines coming up.
The first deadline is next week and the second is a couple of weeks away. Volusia County Elections Supervisor Lisa Lewis says, "I just want to remind everybody about the deadline to register to vote, October 5. There is a deadline to request a vote by mail ballot. It is October 24, ten days before the election." You can register and ask for a mail-in ballot online at volusiaelections.org
Lewis says vote by mail is a safe and secure way to cast your ballot and you can even keep track of it online. "The sooner you mail it, the sooner we get it. Track it, volusiaelections.org, Check on your vote-by-mail status up towards the top of the page. You can see when it's been received back here in the office. Once it says 'received' it is going to be counted and tabulated." You can track your mail-in ballot at volusiaelections.org
The first mail-in ballots went out last Thursday so if you’ve already requested one, you should see it soon.
