Local Agency In Need Of Donations For The Holidays

Posted

Daytona Beach, Fl - The Jewish Federation of Volusia & Flagler Counties and its Jerry Doliner Food Bank is in need of financial donations for their holiday programs. Executive Director Gloria Max says the organization they've been working with for years for food donations is not going to be able to come through this year. That leaves the agency in a financial bind, with only weeks to raise the funds to provide turkeys, side dishes, fresh produce and other groceries for a holiday meal for hundreds of  clients.

In addition, Max says they are not receiving as many donated toys from different organizations as we have in the past because they could not hold fundraisers during the pandemic. "I'm pleading with anyone who wants to help us with money to buy turkeys and we need gifts for children. We need gift cards for the older children. The older kids, they're also children."

Max said they also need help buying for seniors. She says they usually have luncheons for people over 80 years of age.  With COVID-19, of course, they are not able to do that.  "We can't have it this year but we're packing bags and we're giving them all kinds of things and presents so if they can help us with that, I'd appreciate it so much."

The need is especially great this year. Please send checks to the Jerry Doliner Food Bank, 470 Andalusia Ave., Ormond Beach, FL 32174. If you'd like to donate online, visit mightycause.com/story/vmxa
