Local Police Departments Are Santa's Helpers

Daytona Beach, FL - Local police departments are getting into the holiday spirit as Santa's helpers.

The New Smyrna Beach Christmas Parade, which happens on Saturday, December 5, usually travels on Flagler Avenue to Canal Street but it's being expanded this year and will now travel around most of the city escorted by the NSB Police and Fire Departments. The parade will begin on Flagler Avenue at 9 a.m. and ends around 5 p.m. at the Sports Complex on Turnbull Bay Road. You can find the parade route by clicking here.

During the following week, on December 7, 9, and 11, or Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, Santa will be on patrol with members of the Ormond Beach Police Department. They'll be on the lookout for good girls and boys and can show up anywhere on the days mentioned.

The 7th Annual Santa on Patrol program works with community policing to enhance the relationship between the community and Ormond Beach Police officers. The program is entirely funded by donations from citizens and local clubs.
