Bunnell, FL - A 30-year-old convicted felon who flashed a gun at Flagler County Sheriff's deputies and was shot by deputies, suffering serious injuries, is now charged in that incident.  Steven Barneski was airlifted to a hospital for treatment that day, July 1. When he was released, he went straight to the Flagler County Jail on Violation Probation charges.

Injured Suspect Wanted On Outstanding Warrants

Earlier this week, a judge signed three arrest warrants for Barneski on charges of Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition by a Convicted Felon, and Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer. He was served at the jail where he's being held without bond on the original warrants.

“This suspect is a convicted felon that shouldn’t have even had a gun to begin with,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Now he faces these additional charges for the additional crimes he committed that night. This case could have ended with a Deputy seriously injured or killed and I am very thankful the deputies survived this encounter with a dangerous felon.”
