Port Orange, FL - A Holly Hill man is in the Volusia County Jail, charged with Aggravated Animal Cruelty. Port Orange Police say 58-year-old Brian Batson is being held on a $2,500 bond.

A Port Orange dog owner made the sad discovery yesterday (July 30) finding their 16-year-old Rat Terrier named Buddy Boy apparently beaten to death in the yard.

Investigators examined the dog and the yard, finding several abnormal injuries to the dog that was not consistent with a natural death.  They did find blood and other evidence on the ground, consistent with Buddy Boy's injuries.

The incident happened in Port Orange but the suspect was arrested at in Holly Hill. It's unclear as to what the motive may be.
