Deltona, FL - A 22-year-old man is now in custody after the Volusia Sheriff's Office says he exposed and "stimulated" himself in front of two Galaxy Middle School cheerleaders.

VSO says that it wasn't long after the 9 a.m. incident yesterday (December 18th) that Steven Lopez Cortina was arrested by deputies at his home.

Deputies say that the girls, both 13-years-old, were handing out candy canes for the holidays at the Galaxy Middle pick-up/drop-off loop when Lopez Cortina approached them with his window down. They thought he wanted a candy cane but instead found him exposing himself. The girls immediately notified school staff as Lopez drove away.

Responding law enforcement worked closely with the two girls, Volusia County Schools Safety and Security and the Volusia County Crime Center to identify and locate Lopez Cortina.

He's now charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious exhibition and remains in custody at Volusia County Jail with no bond, according to jail records. In addition, Lopez Cortina was charged with violating his probation from a prior case, which also involved a charge of exposure.

His first appearance in court is set for this afternoon, according to the county clerk of court.
