Daytona Beach, FL - A 26-year-old man was shot by his girlfriend's father late Friday night. The father told Volusia Sheriff's deputies that Vincent Moore was attacking the woman when they came out of their home because of her screams.
When the parents went out to see what was happening they found their daughter bleeding from her mouth and face. The parents tried to break things up but when that failed, the father fired a warning shot into the ground while the mother was still trying to talk to Moore. He turned on her which is when the father shot him. Moore is in the hospital in critical condition.
Deputies say Moore's girlfriend had several visible injuries to her face and mouth, consistent with having been battered. The case is still under investigation but information and evidence gathered indicate the father shot Moore to protect his family from further harm.
At this time, no charges are filed in the shooting. Charges against Moore for the attack are pending further investigation.
