Deltona, FL - A 55-year-old Deltona man was struck and killed by a vehicle in front of his home, according to the Volusia Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say the victim, who was identified by investigators as Craig Alan Richardson, was in the northbound lane of Courtland Boulevard late Friday night (November 27th) after a vehicle had struck his dog. As he was bending down to tend to his dog, a Toyota sedan driving northbound on Courtland struck him.
Deltona Fire Rescue arrived moments later and performed lifesaving measures, but the victim and dog passed away at the scene. Deputies interviewed the driver at the scene and a family member who saw the crash. Deputies say a preliminary investigation showed no signs of impairment by the driver.
The investigation continues.
