Man Who Wrote Apology Letter To Child Sex Victim Due In Court

Daytona Beach, FL - A man who wrote an apology letter to the young girl he’s accused of having sex with will go in front of a judge after his case had already been continued five separate times.

Wes Brough was arrested in April 2021—just 10 days before his birthday—when authorities received a tip that he was uploading suspected child pornography to the internet. The files in question showed Brough engaging in sexual acts with a 5-year-old female.

Brough confessed to the crime in an interview with detectives. He said the last inappropriate contact he had with the victim was just four days before he spoke to investigators. Brough also wrote an apology letter to the victim, saying “I’m sorry for everything I ever did bad to u (sic) I feel bad for what I did. From Uncle Wes.”

A webcam was seized as part of the investigation, along with a sex toy and one of Brough’s work shirts; both of which were seen in the videos.

In addition to his child pornography charges, Brough is also charged with failing to properly register as a sex offender. This stems from Brough failing to register a homemade trailer found on his property.

Brough was first slated to go before a judge for a pre-trial hearing in July 2021. It was continued four other times after that, eventually leading to his new court date of January 4. If it is not continued again, Brough is set to go to trial on January 24.

Since his arrest, Brough has remained in custody with no bond at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
