DeLand, FL - Volusia County government mandates masks for employees in county buildings where social distancing is not possible, effective immediately. Vaccines are not mandated for employees but are recommended. There will be two vaccination events scheduled for county employees.

The first event was today at Beach Safety Headquarters in Daytona Beach until 1 p.m.

The second is next Thursday, August 5, at the Thomas C. Kelly Administration Center in the training room from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

An inter-office memorandum from County Manager George Recktenwald said that "Unfortunately, all of the local indicators - including new cases, new hospitalizations, and the positivity rate - are continuing to dramatically spike up."

The County will supply cloth/paper facemasks or employees can provide their own. Recktenwald said, "The best tool in this fight against COVID is the vaccine."

Recktenwald included this link in the memo to cdc.gov.
