Edgewater, FL - Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says a Miami man is dead following a crash involving three vehicles late Sunday night (August 8).
According to a report from investigators, the 33-year-old man was driving southbound near Exit 244 for State Road 442 behind another Miami resident, a 16-year-old male, who was having mechanical troubles around 10:30 at night. Both vehicles were traveling at approximately 15 mph, per FHP.
As both vehicles traveled south, a pickup truck piloted by a 52-year-old New Smyrna Beach man approached the rear of the 33-year-old man's vehicle. The driver told investigators that he could not see the other driver's vehicle as it was not illuminated, which led to them crashing.
The 33-year-old man's vehicle then struck the vehicle in front of him and overturned, ejecting him. He was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
The crash remains under investigation.
