Holly Hill, FL - A motorcycle rider is dead after the Holly Hill Police Department said they were found face down in a canal on LPGA Boulevard.

Chris Yates, the public information officer for the HHPD, says the agency was called to the intersection of LPGA and Alta Drive around 8:11 Wednesday night (Sept. 29). After arriving, officers found a couple trying to pull the driver out of the canal.

Officers and Volusia County deputies both attempted life-saving efforts on the driver until paramedics could take over. The victim later died at Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach. An autopsy has since been scheduled.

Police have only identified the victim as a 21-year-old white male. Investigators plan to release more details as they are made available.
