Motorcyclist Dies After Losing Control Of Bike

Daytona Beach, FL - A 24-year-old Ormond Beach man is dead after he lost control of his motorcycle yesterday (September 4) afternoon. The bike hit the front passenger side of a Ford van traveling southbound, ejecting the rider into a grassy area on the west side of Clyde Morris Boulevard. The motorcycle also took the left front tire off the van.

Daytona Beach Police report that witnesses told them the man was riding northbound at a high rate of speed on Clyde Morris Boulevard around 1 p.m. They say he tried passing in the center median breakdown lane, lost control, crossing the road into oncoming traffic. Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that the man was not breathing. He was pronounced dead at 1:11 p.m.

The driver of the van involved,a 51-year-old Daytona Beach man, was treated on scene by paramedics for a minor arm injury. 

No other people were involved in the accident and charges are not pending at this time. An autopsy is pending to determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
