New Smyrna Beach Middle & High Schools Locked Down Over Threat

New Smyrna Beach, FL - New Smyrna Beach Middle School and High School were locked down after police discovered threatening messages on social media.

An alert from the New Smyrna Beach Police Department says the schools were locked down around 11:30 Thursday morning (April 21) as they assisted the Volusia Sheriff’s Office in an investigation into the social media posts. Both lockdowns have since been lifted.

At the moment, investigators are still trying to locate a person of interest in this case. The social media posts in question were not made available by police, along with information about their person of interest.
