Daytona Beach, FL - Daytona Beach firefighters, along with an engine crew from Daytona Beach Shores, worked to keep fire from consuming a home located on Lenox Avenue off of A1A this morning (May 8).

Two adults in the home and their dog escaped without injury.

Daytona Beach Fire Department Public Information Officer Sasha Staton reports that firefighters arrived on scene just before 10:30 a.m.  to flames that had already spread from the shed in the back of the house to the main house.

Though the house sustained damage from the fire, firefighters were able to keep the fire from buring the entire house. The shed where the fire started and the carport located at the rear of the house are a total loss.

The Economy Inn Motel, which faces the rear of the home,  received damage from heat and smoke to the exterior wall as well as the interior of the room located on the end.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and the State Fire Marshal will conduct an investigation
