Daytona Beach, FL - Daytona Beach police say a 53-year-old woman has passed away from injuries she sustained during a crash on the last Saturday of Bike Week.

The Daytona Beach Police Department says the woman was riding on the back of a motorcycle headed southbound on Nova Road, approaching George Engram Boulevard, on the night of March 13th.

According to a report from the motorcycle's driver, a 54-year-old St. Augustine man, the two were traveling southbound in the right lane when a vehicle making a u-turn pulled out in front of them, which caused him to lay his motorcycle down in the road. This caused the two of them to fall off the bike—neither of them were wearing helmets.

Paramedics later arrived and transported the pair to the Halifax Health Medical Center; the man had minor injuries while the woman was transported as a trauma alert with life-threatening injuries.

The woman later died Monday afternoon (March 15th).

According to police, charges are pending in this case, but the investigation remains open.
