New Smyrna Beach, FL - Public boat ramps in New Smyrna Beach reopen this Friday, April 17 and the Farmers Market opens on Saturday, April 18, per the order of the New Smyrna Beach City Commission at a virtual meeting yesterday (April 14), after being shutdown in response to COVID-19.
With the reopenings comes restrictions. The boat ramps are only open to residents of the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND), which consists of the 12 Florida counties that run the east coast of Florida, from the Georgia state line to Miami. The opening is in effect through May 15. This does not mean the city is relaxing the CDC social distancing guidelines. Strict enforcement of ramp access and monitoring for illegal parking will be in effect. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s executive order limiting recreational vessel occupancy to no more than 10 people per vessel and requiring a minimum distance of 50 feet between vessels is still in effect. If crowd control and social distancing measures aren't followed, the city manager could close the boat ramps.
The reopening of the New Smyrna Beach Farmers Market is in effect from April 18 through May 15. Only perishable goods will be sold.
Playgrounds and public restrooms remain closed through May 15. Open air parks remain open but anyone in them must maintain a minimum of six-foot social distancing and observe CDC guidelines and all other orders issued by the federal and state government.
