New Smyrna Beach, FL - Volusia County's state-run COVID-19 testing site in New Smyrna Beach will now operate into next year.

The site, located at the City Gym found off Live Oak Street, was initially slated to shut down by the end of November. Now the Florida Division of Emergency Management operated site will remain open until January 31st of 2021. However, the site will still close on specific days, including November 26th and 27th for Thanksgiving, December 24th and 25th for Christmas and January 1st for New Years Day.

“We’re just so thankful for the coordination and support from both the Florida Division of Emergency Management and the City of New Smyrna Beach,” said Emergency Management Director Jim Judge. “The site is easy to navigate and results are being delivered quickly, which makes for a positive user experience. And we can tell by the number of tests administered that the site is effective and being utilized by our residents.”

Both self-swab rapid antigen and PCR testing is offered at the site, which is open between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily. Results for the self-swab rapid testing is expected to take about 15 minutes following the test.

There is no age requirement for testing. Insurance information is requested from individuals who do have insurance, but patients will not be billed. Those without insurance will be tested free of charge.

Appointments are not required, but can be made to facilitate a faster experience by registering online (click here). No symptoms are required for testing.
