NSB's South Causeway Getting New FDOT Roadway Weather Sensor System

EB Lanes Will See Lane Closures This Week

Posted

New Smyrna Beach, FL - New Smyrna Beach's South Causeway will have single lane closures in the eastbound lanes this week for the installation of FDOT's Roadway Weather Sensor System. That will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 11 through Thursday, Aug. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Electronic message boards and other signage will be used to alert motorists of closures.

The South Causeway is one of the first among 17 other locations to receive the new system. Its purpose is to enhance Central Florida's emergency management and maintenance systems by installing remotely accessible sensors to provide continuous monitoring of wind speed, water level, and roadway surface conditions on various bridges across Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Marion, Sumter, and Volusia counties.
