Daytona Beach, FL - A recent forecast from the National Weather Service said the four words some Floridians have been waiting for: lows in the 60's.
The current seven day forecast from NWS Melbourne shows the Daytona Beach area starting off the week with isolated showers and thunderstorms with highs in the mid 80's and lows in the mid to lower 70's. Moving into Tuesday (September 29th), residents can expect another high in the 80's, along with an 80% chance of precipitation and possible morning thunderstorms.
But, throughout Tuesday night into Wednesday, a weak surface low is expected to develop over the Southeastern United States and bring a cold front along with it as it moves across the eastern Gulf of Mexico and the Panhandle.
Shower and storm chances will remain around 50-60% during the early overnight hours, but northwesterly winds are expected to bring drier air into the area by sunrise on Wednesday, putting overnight and early morning lows in the 60's.
As the day moves on, Wednesday's high is expected to hit 76° F before dropping down to 60° F during the night. From there, the cool and dry air mass is forecast to finish out the week with light north to northeast winds.
The highs for Thursday and Friday are forecast to hit the low 80's with lows in the lower to mid 60's.
The Flagler County area is also forecast to receive similar conditions with Tuesday night's low forecast to hit 65 °F. From there, lows are expected to stay around the lower 60's with highs near the low 80's.
