Oak Hill, FL - Volusia County deputies are investigating after an Oak Hill man was struck and killed by a train early Sunday morning (May 23).

According to the Volusia Sheriff's Office (VSO), the victim, 48-year-old Christopher Trull, was lying on the tracks near North Brooks Circle when the train approached and hit him. He was pronounced dead on the scene by rescue workers.

Investigators say the train was traveling north around 6:50 that morning when the engineer saw the victim and pulled the emergency brake. The train, however, failed to slow down in time and hit the victim. The train eventually stopped about half a mile north of impact.

No signs of foul play have been observed by investigators.
