Official Results From DBCC Zone 2 Special Election

Daytona Beach, FL - The results from last Tuesday's (September 21) Daytona Beach Zone 2 Special Election are now official. There will be a run-off election between Ken Strickland, who received 35.42 percent of the vote and Larry McDermott, who received 34.23 percent, on November 2, 2021. To win, one candidate needed 50 percent of the vote plus one.

An election in Lake Helen also takes place that day for Mayor and City Commissioner Zone 1. The mayoral are Vernon J. Burton and Cameron Lane. The City Commissioner Zone 1 candidates are Kelly Frasca and Heather Rutledge.

From a press release issued by Volusia County Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis:

For elections in both cities, voters with a vote-by-mail request on file will be mailed a ballot on Monday, September 27. At that time, 752 vote-by-mail ballots will go out for the City of Lake Helen and 1,325 will go out for the City of Daytona Beach. Voters may visit  volusiaelections.org to request a vote-by-mail ballot or call the Supervisor of Elections Office at 386-736-5930.
