A suspect is in custody in relation to a shooting on Linville Road in Ormond Beach, the Volusia Sheriff's Office announced on Wednesday. The shooting, which occurred Monday night, left one man injured with two gunshot-related wounds.
In the initial aftermath of the shooting, two suspects were referenced without naming them, and both were said to be at-large. Now, the first of those two suspects is in custody on four charges with no bond. The second is still unnamed and presumed at-large with the investigation still ongoing.
Anthony Pezza was arrested in Palatka on Tuesday and charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, firing into an occupied dwelling, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He's still in custody at the Putnam County Jail as of Thursday morning.
Pezza also has three arrest records in Volusia County and twelve in Flagler County. Curiously, his Putnam County arrest has him residing on Linville Road in Ormond Beach where the shooting took place, while the other bookings have him all over the map. The three Volusia arrests place his residence in Bunnell as of 2020, Franklinville, New Jersey as of 2021, and Orlando as of 2022. His Flagler records also list him as residing in Orlando.
Previous charges of Pezza's include possession of methamphetamine and heroin with intent to sell, along with various marijuana possession and driver's license violations. His latest arrest in Putnam County for alleged crimes in Volusia County marks a major escalation in the severity of Pezza's reported criminal activity.
