Ormond Beach Distributing Sandbags In August

Ormond Beach, FL - With the first storm to threaten central Florida this year, the city of Ormond Beach is offering early distribution of sandbags with self-serve sand beginning this Saturday. August 1. 

A self-serve sand pile and fillable sandbags will be available all month at the Nova Community Center.  Self-serve hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday and on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Ormond Beach residents can get up to ten complimentary fillable bags. You should bring your own shovel and be ready to load the bags in your vehicle yourself.

There are some assisted service hours on Wednesdays from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  You'll need to go to the Nova Recreation Center to ask for help. One staff person will be onsite to provide assistance with more being scheduled as needed.

In the event of a hurricane or severe storm, additional hours, locations and staff will be scheduled. The Casements and the Ormond Beach Sports Complex will be utilized. Hours of operation and the number of staff will increase as it becomes necessary.

Residents with special needs can have sandbags delivered to their residence by filling out a request form at ormondbeach.org or by calling the Public Works Department at 386-676-3220.
