Ormond Beach, FL - The Volusia County Sheriff's Office says 50-year-old George Rowe is charged with the sexual battery of a 16-year-old girl. The girl, who her family indicates has a learning disability, reported the ongoing abuse on New Year's Eve.
Sheriff's detectives say the victim told them that the abuse had been going on over the last several months. She provided specific details which detectives were able to corroborate through text and photo messages exchanged with Rowe.
At this time, detectives say no other victims have been identified but they are investigating further. Anyone with information on this case or other potential victims is asked to contact the Child Exploitation Unit at 386-323-3574.
As for Rowe, he's charged with Sexual Battery on a Victim Between 12 and 18 with Specific Conditions and Transmission of Materials Harmful to a Minor by Electronic Device.
