FCSO was alerted just after 2 p.m. to the grey Camaro that Hoxworth was driving after shoplifting at the CVS store located at Nova Road and Granada Boulevard in Ormond Beach.  At approximately 2:44 p.m., a deputy spotted the car traveling at a high rate of speed on U.S. 1 near Palm Coast Parkway. That deputy commenced pursuit due to reported violent crimes in another jurisdiction. Ormond Beach Police reduced the charges to misdemeanors and the pursuit was called off.

Shortly afterward, a caller in the area of London Drive in Palm Coast called to report a vehicle driving recklessly and damaging property. A short time later, the vehicle was seen on Belle Terre Parkway, then on Palm Coast Parkway, all while traveling at an estimated more than 70 mph.

Hoxworth ran over stop sticks near the area of Palm Coast Parkway and Bridgehaven Drive but continued driving, still at a high rate of speed, 'cutting off motorists and creating unsafe driving for conditions for all motorists on the roadway.'

The vehicle finally struck an unmarked pickup truck set up on Palm Coast Parkway just east of U.S. 1. Another FCSO vehicle got behind him, blocking him in.

Hoxworth refused to exit the vehicle but FCSO deputies removed him from the vehicle, escorting him to the ground. He continued to resist while they put the handcuffs on him, getting him charged with resisting arrest without violence. He remains at the Flagler County Jail, charged with Aggravated Fleeing with Injury or Damage and Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer, both felonies. Add the misdemeanor charges of Simple Battery, Petty Theft, and Reckless Driving Causing Damage and his bond is set at $54,500.
