Palm Coast, FL - The Flagler County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) stops a car thief from Georgia after deputies discovered the vehicle in Palm Coast.

According to a report from FCSO, deputies responded to the area of the Palm Coast and Belle Terre parkways on Monday (May 24) after learning about a 2020 Jeep Cherokee that was stolen out of Georgia. When deputies arrived, they found the Jeep and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver, 36-year-old Gregory Gilmore, ignored deputies and continued on.

At one point, deputies deployed a set of stop sticks to slow down Gilmore's vehicle. However, a car traveling in front of Gilmore stopped abruptly, causing Gilmore to stop just before the stop sticks. Deputies then conducted a felony traffic stop and ordered Gilmore out of the vehicle. He cooperated and was eventually arrested without incident.

Deputies say Gilmore was charged with one count of grand theft auto, which yielded a bond of $2,500. As of Tuesday (May 25) afternoon, Gilmore remains in custody.
