Orange City, FL - An early morning incident involving an Orange City police vehicle leaves a pedestrian dead.

Florida Highway Patrol says that a marked Orange City Police Department SUV was traveling south on Enterprise Road, in "emergency mode," as the officer was responding to a call.

Just before one o'clock this morning (June 1st), a 51-year-old female reportedly attempting to cross Enterprise near Grand Plaza Drive without using a crosswalk was struck by the police SUV. She died at the scene, per FHP's report.

The officer involved has been identified by the OCPD. The pedestrian has not been identified. This investigation is active and ongoing. Check back for later updates.
