Police Arrest Second Suspect In Fatal Nova Road Crash

South Daytona, FL - Investigators say a second man has been arrested and charged in connection to a deadly Nova Road crash that claimed the life of an Uber passenger on February 9th.

According to the South Daytona Police Department (SDPD), 18-year-old Jarron Cunningham was arrested in connection to the crash that killed Gregory Greer, a Port Orange man who was riding in an Uber at the time of the incident.

He is now charged with vehicular homicide and racing on a highway, which landed him in jail on Monday (March 29th) with a $50,000 bond. Records from the Volusia County Clerk of Courts shows Cunningham was released on Tuesday (March 30th) after posting bond.

Cunningham is the second to be charged in this fatal incident, the first being 18-year-old Eric Marens, who drove the car that collided with the car Greer was riding in—which was being operated by a 42-year-old Port Orange woman who survived the crash.

After the incident, Marens denied allegations that he was racing. But, according to the police report, Cunningham told police that they were traveling south on Nova Road at 52 mph just before the crash, then added that they were speeding, but it happened "way before the crash."

Additionally, officers seized an event data recorder (EDR) Marens' car. Data pulled from the EDR indicated that the car—a blue 2018 Ford Focus ST—was traveling at 108 mph just 2.5 seconds before the crash occurred. The EDR then clocked the car's speed at 81.8 mph at the time of the crash.

NOTE: Cunningham's booking photo was not available at the time this report was published.
