Police Identify Victim In Taylor Avenue Homicide

Daytona Beach, FL - The investigation into a 73-year-old man found dead on the sidewalk from a gunshot wound continues in Daytona Beach.

Early Saturday (Nov. 20) morning, a 911 call from a woman who found the body on the sidewalk after hearing a loud bang brought officers to the 300 block of Taylor Avenue. When police arrived they saw that the man suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

According to a report from the police department, one of the officers identified the man as 73-year-old Kenneth Decker, also known as “Poppa Smurf.” A bullet casing was discovered in the roadway near the deceased.
