Daytona Beach, FL - Police are investigating after a crash claimed the life of a motorcycle rider in Daytona Beach.
Officers with the Daytona Beach Police Department were called to the scene on International Speedway Boulevard and Caroline Street just after 5:30 Thursday evening (March 28). There they found a woman who had struck a motorcycle rider as she was driving north on Caroline towards ISB. Police learned that as the woman crossed through the intersection, so did the motorcycle, which was headed east on ISB.
The crash threw the rider off of the bike and onto the road. The man, who police have identified as Kayvon Brown, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The woman moved her vehicle out of the intersection and waited for the police. Officers say she is cooperating with investigators.
At this time, charges are pending as officers continue to investigate the crash. An autopsy will determine if drugs or alcohol also played a part in the incident
