Port Orange Police Arrest Driver In Pedestrian-Involved Crash

Port Orange, FL - The driver in a hit-and-run crash that sent a man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries is in custody. Port Orange Police say 29-year-old Colby Roberts is charged with leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury and is being held without bond.

The accident happened at the intersection of Nova Road and Dunlawton Avenue at about 8:20 p.m. yesterday (October 4). Witnesses say that the vehicle, described as a white 4 door Mercedes C-Class sedan, and the driver responsible fled the scene. 

An anonymous caller tipped police off this morning (October 5) that the car was parked in front of an apartment complex in South Daytona. Officers responded to find the car with damage consistent with that of striking a pedestrian.

The victim remains in the hospital and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the accident or has information on the crash is asked to contact Port Orange Police Department Traffic Homicide Investigator Joshua Eddy at 386-506-5822.
