Daytona Beach, FL - A man who serves as an associate professor and local pastor could face up to 30 counts of child pornography possession after Daytona Beach police raided his home.

Officers with the Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) served a search warrant at the Muirfield Drive home of 73-year-old John Robert Griffin II on Wednesday (January 6th) following an investigation that started over two months ago.

The investigation into Griffin—who serves as an associate professor of air traffic management at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a pastor at Riverbend Community Church in Ormond Beach—began in October 2020 after the DBPD's Advanced Technology & Cyber Crimes (ATAC) unit was notified that Griffin was stashing and sharing child pornography through various phone apps. From there, investigators were able to secure a search warrant for his property.

During the raid, officers seized various electronics including computers and phones which held over 200 sexually explicit photos of children. Those devices are now under further investigation as officers try to determine just how many articles of child pornography Griffin has in his possession.

Griffin was taken into custody from his home but has yet to be booked into Volusia County Jail. According to a release from the DBPD, Griffin will be booked once officers are done processing his paperwork.

Police further stated that investigators plans to charge Griffin with at least 30 felony counts of child pornography possession—which could change since the investigation remains open.
