Daytona Beach, FL - Those wanting to find a job in the public safety field now have a chance to meet with some employers from around the state and the county.

Starting tomorrow (October 25th), Daytona State College's School of Emergency Services will host a public safety job fair at the Advanced Technology Campus (ATC) found off of Williamson Boulevard.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and it is open to students as well as the public. The fair will also feature over 60 employers from around the state, including the local agencies around Volusia County.

"We have 65 police, fire and EMS that will speak to students about potential employment," said Sheila Ellison, the Director of the School of Emergency Services.

Those employers include the Sheriff's Offices of Jacksonville, Orange County and Palm Beach County, along with the Orlando Police Department. The United States Army and the Florida Highway Patrol will also be present.

Attendees will also have a chance to view some static displays provided by the owners.

"There will be a police command center, a BearCat, two fire trucks, FWC is bringing a boat."

Those attending the fair should dress professionally, bring copies of their resume and be prepared to speak directly to recruiters. Average starting salaries hover around $38,000 and $48,000 a year, not including benefits.

Many agencies also offer overtime and sign-on bonuses, according to Ellison.
