Five locations in the state up for purchase including Ormond Beach

Ormond Beach, FL - One of the south's most prolific chains of grocery stores announces that they're up to purchase the soon-to-be-former location of Lucky's Market in Ormond Beach.

Last week, the Boulder, Colorado-based chain Lucky's Market announced that they were closing all but seven of their locations around the United States. That came after their primary financial backer, Kroger Inc., dropped the chain.

Days after the announcement came out, residents and business owners began to speculate on who would fill the spot. An article from the Jacksonville Daily Record claimed that the discount-chain, Aldi, planned on taking five locations in the state of Florida, but the chain was not clear on where they would be. With that, the fate of the Ormond location still seemed up in the air.

However, following an email that was sent to News Daytona Beach, it seems that there could be an answer as to who will be the location's next tenant.

Maria Brous, the director of communications for Publix Super Markets, confirmed that the Florida-based chain is under contract to buy five different locations around the state of Florida, including Lucky's location off of Granada Boulevard in beachside Ormond.

Other locations around the state include Clermont, Naples, Neptune Beach and Orlando. Brous confirmed that they are currently working through the process with the landlords of each location. She also confirmed that they are in the due diligence process, but no other details were made available.
