Regal To Re-Open Select Theaters In April

Daytona Beach, FL - An update from Regal Theatres says the cinema chain plans to reopen select theaters just in time for the release of Godzilla vs. Kong. However, Volusia County doesn't seem to be on the list yet.

According to a release from the company, only two Florida theaters will open, the Regal Waterford Lakes 4DX & IMAX Theater in Orlando and the Regal Winter Park Village & RPX in Winter Park.

20 other theaters are slated to open across the United States in California, New York, Nevada, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington. There is no word on exactly when other theaters will open, but Regal Theatres confirmed that additional locations are expected to open in the weeks to follow.

Regal closed in October after their parent company, the United Kingdom-based Cineworld,  announced that they were suspending all domestic and international operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That led to the closure of 700 theaters, including 500 in the United States.

Regal currently operates two locations in Volusia County—Regal Ormond Beach Cinema in Ormond Beach and Regal Pavillion & RPX in Port Orange. It is unclear as to when either location will open.
