Posted

DeLand, FL - Seven students are facing charges and one student remains in the hospital with serious injuries following a brawl at DeLand High School.

All seven of those students will be charged with disrupting school, while 17-year-old Charles Jordan is facing an additional charge of felony aggravated battery for putting a student in the hospital.

The charges stem from a fight that broke out on the school’s campus on Wednesday (Feb. 23) that all seven were involved in. The fight was caught on video, which is now being forwarded to the State Attorney’s Office as part of the investigation into the case.

After the fight broke up, Jordan and another involved student were walking away from the scene. At some point, Jordan picked up the other student and dropped him head first onto the concrete. They were transported to AdventHealth in DeLand before being transferred to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando with serious injuries. Their condition is not known at this time and their name is being withheld by police.

We will release updates on this report as more information is made available.
