Stetson Medallion Returned By Anonymous Stranger

DeLand, FL - In a matter as mysterious as its disappearance, the Stetson University Medallion has been returned, but police still don't know who took it in the first place.

The search began on Friday (January 8th) after an employee at the university noticed that a medallion on the school's gateway was missing. A spotlight used to illuminate the sign was also reported missing.

A release from the DeLand Police Department (DPD) says the university's Public Safety department received an anonymous phone call from an individual Friday evening, stating that "he did something wrong" and "felt bad about it." The employees asked if the caller was referring to the medallion, to which they replied yes.

The individual eventually called again and told the employees that the medallion had been placed in the dirt parking lot across from the Stetson University Facilities building off North Garfield Avenue and East Arizona Avenue.

Police have not mentioned if they plan to investigate this case any further.
