Tickets Needed To View Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Statue

Daytona Beach, FL - The marble statue of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune is on display at the News-Journal Center at 221 N. Beach Street through December 12, 2021. The city of Daytona Beach is offering tours at the top of each hour with the first beginning at 10 a.m. and the last at 3 p.m.

Dr. Bethune is the first African American woman to be honored by a state.

Admission is free but you do need a ticket, which you can get online at mmbstatue.org

You'll find information on the statue's symbolism, explaining the cap and gown, black rose, walking stick, and stacked books on the website, and pictures and videos of the work in progress.
