Daytona Beach, FL -  The city of Daytona Beach says with people parked on either side of LPGA Boulevard approaching Daytona Stadium this evening, the gates are now open, having done so at 7 p.m. The decision was made to let the first 1,000 people in tonight in order to help ensure their safety.

Daytona Beach Communications Manager Susan Cerbone said that "the change will hopefully remove overnighters from the roadway and alleviate early morning traffic congestion on LPGA Blvd. and surrounding roads."

Dr. Holly Smith, Communications Manager for the Department of Health in Volusia County said that nearly 400 people were vaccinated within the first hour, with 1,000 doses administered. She said they have another 1,000 doses to administer tomorrow, (January 5) and that additional opportunities for the vaccine will be available soon.
