Unsanctioned Events In Volusia County To Be Discussed By Community Leaders

Daytona Beach, FL - The Truck Meet in Daytona Beach in June was unsanctioned, included a road rage incident, a wave of complaints, and Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young calling for the event to end. This Wednesday, September 29, the Special Events Taskforce created following the event will have a meeting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ocean Center. 

Chief Young Calls For End To Daytona Truck Meet

City and county leaders will discuss ways to manage unsanctioned events and how they work together with mutual aid during sanctioned events. 

Invited attendees include "mayors, managers and police chiefs from cities on the county’s east side, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, the Volusia County Chair and Volusia County Beach Safety as well as leaders from the Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Lodging and Hospitality Association of Volusia County. "
