USDA Extends Free Meal Program Through End Of School Year

Daytona Beach, FL - County school officials have been given the greenlight by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to continue with a program that allowed all children 18 or under to eat for free until the end of the school year.

All students who are attending class in-person in the Volusia County School District will continue to receive their breakfast and lunch for free until June 4th, the last day of school. Children who do not attend in-person classes can still participate in the county's free curbside meal service.

Families must first register for the program, which can be done through the district's website, before they can pick up meals. Once they're registered, families may pick up those meals each Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:00 a.m., with the last pickup day scheduled for next June 1st. Meals will be bundled with five breakfasts and five lunches.

According to the school district, registration is required and must be completed weekly between Tuesday morning and Thursday night for the following Tuesday’s pickup.

Parents and guardians will also be required to show their ID and a form of ID for their child—a school ID or a birth certificate will be accepted—when they arrive to pick up a meal.

Additionally, on December 1st, the county's pickup service will be limited to a certain number of sites. You can find them below:
